about Hypnotherapy

Not magic.

Just neuroscience used on purpose.

What is Clinical Hypnotherapy?

Forget the theatrical, entertainment-based portrayals of hypnosis you have seen on screen.

Clinical hypnotherapy is a science-backed way to help your brain create new, positive habits so you can step out of stress and into calm.

And hypnosis is simply a state of deeply focused relaxation that allows your brain to change its automatic responses.

Every single day, your brain naturally enters a state of hypnosis without you realizing it.

It’s that floating, relaxed feeling you experience right before you fall asleep, when you lose track of time while reading a good book, or when you safely drive home on autopilot.

In a therapeutic setting, we use this natural state intentionally.

What is Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy?

How It Works

Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy is a modern, practical approach that combines talking therapy with guided relaxation (hypnosis) to help you feel calmer, clearer, and more in control of your thoughts and feelings.

It focuses on where you are now, where you want to be, and the small, achievable steps that help you get there – rather than getting stuck in the past.

It is also grounded in modern neuroscience, drawing on what we now understand about how the brain and nervous system respond to stress, anxiety, change and safety.

This is a safe, modern and well-researched approach to helping people break the negative cycle of anxiety and depression.

In simple terms, this approach helps to calm an overactive stress response and support your mind and body to settle.

When we feel anxious, overwhelmed, or under pressure, the brain can become stuck in a “high alert” state.

This affects not only how we think and feel emotionally, but also how the nervous system regulates the body.

In this state, it’s common to notice physical symptoms of stress such as tension, fatigue, sleep disruption, or changes in digestion and gut comfort.

Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy works with this mind–body connection by:

  • reducing the activation of the stress response

  • helping the mind become less reactive and more balanced

  • improving communication between the thinking brain and the body’s stress systems

  •  encouraging more helpful, solution-focused ways of thinking

Over time, this can help you feel more settled, more present, and more able to cope with everyday life.

Debunking the myths

Myth 1: You will lose control or be brainwashed.

Fact:

You are awake, fully conscious, and in absolute control the entire time.

Hypnotherapy is completely incapable of forcing you to do or say anything against your will or core values.

If I gave you a suggestion that didn't align with your goals, your brain would simply reject it.

You are in the driver's seat; I am merely the navigator.

Myth 2: You can get "stuck" in hypnosis

Fact:

It is physically impossible to get stuck in a trance.

Hypnosis is a natural, fluid state of focus, much like a vivid daydream.

If a session were suddenly interrupted, or if I simply stopped speaking, you would either naturally open your eyes when you felt ready, or drift into a ordinary, restorative sleep.

Myth 3: Only "weak-minded" people can be hypnotised

Fact:

The exact opposite is true.

Because hypnosis requires focused attention and creative imagination, individuals with high intelligence, strong concentration skills, and deep analytical minds actually make the best hypnotherapy clients.

What a Typical Session Looks Like

Each session is a collaborative conversation.

  1. We spend the first half of our time talking in a completely normal, solution-focused therapeutic framework. We look at your small wins, discuss how your brain responds to stress, and clarify your immediate goals for the week ahead.

  2. The actual hypnotherapy happens in the final 20-25 minutes. You will simply sit or lie back comfortably while listening to the calm rhythm of my voice. I will guide you through relaxation exercises and use metaphor and positive suggestion tailored specifically to what you want to achieve.

Most clients describe the experience as a profound sense of mental spaciousness, deep physical rest, and complete safety.

Hypnotherapy isn't a mystical trick; it is a structured, evidence-based method to help your brilliant mind step out of defence mode.

If you are ready to experience what it feels like to truly retrain your automatic stress responses, let’s begin.

A mind–body approach (backed by neuroscience)

This approach recognises what neuroscience has shown us: the brain, nervous system and body are constantly communicating.

When the nervous system is under prolonged stress, it can affect emotional regulation, thinking patterns, energy levels, and physical wellbeing.

As the nervous system begins to settle, many people notice not only a shift in their thoughts, but also changes in how their body feels and responds day to day.

What makes it “solution-focused”?

Rather than spending time analysing problems in detail, we focus on:

  • what you want instead

  • what’s already working (even in small ways)

  • and how to build more of that into your daily life

This approach aligns with how the brain and nervous system adapt – through repetition, attention, and small, consistent shifts over time.

Is this right for me?

This approach may suit you if you:

  • feel stuck in cycles of stress, anxiety, or overthinking

  • notice that anxiety and stress affect both your mind and your body

  • want something practical and forward focused

  • are open to a gentle, structured process of change

  • want to feel calmer, clearer and more regulated

Many people are surprised by how quickly small changes begin to build.

As your mind and nervous system begin to settle, things that once felt overwhelming often start to feel more manageable – and life can begin to feel lighter, steadier, and more like your own again.

A Few things to note…

  • I do not claim to cure, and I cannot diagnose mental health conditions - results vary and cannot be guaranteed.

  • While hypnotherapy can produce remarkable results, its success ultimately depends on your willingness to embrace change and actively participate in the therapeutic process. It is a collaborative effort between us, and as such, outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

  • Hypnotherapy is contraindicated for psychosis.
