Do you ever get that feeling? When you kind of feel disconnected from yourself?
A weird sense of discombobulation where clarity feels a long way away and you can’t make the simplest decision. Thoughts and options churn around in your mind and you end up feeling totally confused.
I do.
I just did!
I was trying to think about what to write for this week’s blog.
And I felt blocked.
I had one idea, then another. Then a kind of fuzzy resistance and churning thoughts of “Oh I don’t know. Who reads this blog anyway? I’m running out of time this morning. What should I do? Should I write about something to promote an upcoming event or just write from the heart?”.
{That last question answered itself by the way. When I catch myself coming from a place of “should” v coming from the heart … well, the heart always wins!}
I’d just been preparing for my Living Yoga Circle tonight where we’re looking at the Brow & Crown Chakras – so thoughts and feelings of clarity and light and clear vision were floating around within my heartspace.
And then I remembered the beautiful Dru meditation I’ve been sharing in my weekly yoga classes these past couple of weeks.
I did a few minutes practice of this meditation myself.
And everything settled. As I quieted my mind and became grounded and present in my body, I could hear the whispers of my inner guidance. And the answer came: “just share this”.
So, here it is for you.
A simple, beautiful meditation to practise when you’re feeling confused and disconnected from your heart, soul and purpose.
Corona of Light Meditation
Sit comfortably – on a chair or on the floor.
- Become aware of your breath entering and leaving your nostrils. Enjoy the stillness for a moment or two.
- Take your focus to your heart and feel your chest rising and falling with the in-breath and out-breath.
- Visualise a warm, golden light in your heart.
- With each in-breath, visualise the light gradually becoming stronger and brighter until it spreads out to fill the whole of your chest. Allow it to be extend beyond your body.
- See and feel yourself surrounded by a circle of light.
- Feel yourself connected through that light to everything around you. Light inside… light outside.
- Enjoy the sense of wellbeing that comes as the light enfolds and upholds you.
- AFFIRM: I am one with the light. I am always connected.
- When you feel ready, come slowly out of the meditation.
